Witley Court, Worcestershire: A pictorial survey by David Pagett.
The Parish Church of St. Michael & All Angels, Great Witley
1st May 2007

The parish church of St. Michael & All Angels, Great Witley was originally a medieval structure standing a little way to the west of the present church. Successive owners of the court sought to integrate the building into developments of thier own property, the one here today being new in around 1735 and dates from the Foley era.
Further work in 1747 completely transformed the interior, when much of the decor from the private chapel of the Duke of Chandos' house, Cannons Palace in Edgware, was re-installed here at Great Witley when the latter residence was demolished.
What is seen today is the final phase in these developments, as completed in the mid-nineteenth century in the Dudley era, and untouched by the fire which swept through the court in September 1937.
Further descriptions of the various features accompany the images.
